REFLECTION QUESTIONLand UseHow difficult or easy was it to change your diet?
Rebecca Bachtel 4/06/2018 3:20 PMI try to make responsible decisions about my diet. I limit the amount of animal products I consume, I try to avoid palm oil. This has been ongoing for many years. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONLand UseHow is your diet currently impacting deforestation? What can you do to decrease your negative impact and increase your positive impact?
Rebecca Bachtel 4/06/2018 3:17 PMI was happy to learn that the coffee I buy (Peet's) ranks high for sustainability practices (and also have a good reputation based on social consciousness.) I was already aware of the negative impact of palm oil and I try to avoid it as much as I can, though it's not always easy to do. Palm oil is in so many different types of products and under so many different names, it's exceedingly difficult to keep track. I wish there were more companies that promoted their products as "palm oil-free." -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFoodHad you heard of the term silvopasture" before now? After learning more about it, what do you think is the biggest advantage of silvopasture?
Rebecca Bachtel 4/05/2018 5:52 AMI had never heard of silvopasture. It seems like a great way to raise livestock without razing trees to create pastures. It also seems to benefit the animals.
