We learned that parts of our diet are impacting deforestation and over-farming near World Rivers that are important too our world. The kids and I discussed things they do with their parents to curb that. One child mentioned going to Farm Connection instead of Walmart or others for your produce and perishables. Another child asked how they could know if their processed food has palm oil in it. There is a list on the article at One Green Planet. Go to www.onegreenplanet.org for a list of foods that are, sadly, increasing deforestation in tropical lands.

Today, we studied and learned about the practices of land management by the ingenious people of the Para in the Amazon. This goes perfectly with our World Rivers discussion and project! Later the Song Room will work on a flyer to educate their families and community.
