How is your diet currently impacting deforestation? What can you do to decrease your negative impact and increase your positive impact?

I regularly consume products for the "big four" - palm oil, coffee, chocolate, and meat/dairy products. It was helpful to learn more about the products that most impact deforestation and to think about ways to decrease or shift my consumption of them. My plan is to shift to purchasing chocolate and coffee products that are Rainforest Alliance Certified. I also spent some time researching and thinking about how to incorporate more locally grown meat and egg products in to my diet.

Divine Chocolate is a fair trade cooperative.  If you want great chocolate at a reasonable price, you can get Divine products from SERRV, an online catalog of products designed to help provide local, sustainable employment around the world.

I'm doing this Action, as well! Palm oil is the most difficult to avoid for me: it's hidden in so many things! I just found out that Rainforest Alliance also certifies sustainable palm oil, in case you're interested.
