    Now that you know the difference between use by, sell by, and best by dates, how will you view expiration dates differently?

    As I always have, I view them as guidelines more than rules.  I've had foods go off much earlier than they should have and foods that were not only edible but palatable after the marked dates.  Better awareness of when containers were purchased, opened, etc, has been much more useful than the dates themselves.

    Fun fact: Your brain and stomach register feelings of fullness after about 20 minutes of eating. While dishing food out, we tend to load our plates with more than we need. Using smaller plates helps to mitigate this. Aside from the environmental benefits, what other benefits might come out of this?

    This, plus meal tracking, has definitely helped my weight loss goals and focus on nutritional content in my meals.
