I Just recently moved out of a house with four roommates who frankly just don't think or care about their consumption/ impacts on the environment. Now i am living in a smaller more manageable space with my girlfriend. This gives me the opportunity to recycle everything that goes through the house correctly. It also gives me the ability to compost all of the food waste that just me and my GF produce. I am excited to see the changes i can make in the upcoming weeks. another thing i would like to work on is utilizing the great public transportation here that we have in Portland because up until now I have been pretty bad about using the bus.

Isn't it amazing to have our behaviors shaped so much by those we live with.  This is a really good example of the "commons," which can reflect the micro level of our homes to the macro level of the planet.  Living together requires a sharing of responsibilities, in addition to designing systems that make it easy to participate.
