REFLECTION QUESTIONFoodWhat do you think contributes to people in North America eating more meat than other countries, and what does this say about North American values and ways of living? How do we start shifting a meat-focused food culture?
-
REFLECTION QUESTIONWomen and GirlsIn what other ways could you help girls overcome health barriers to being able to attend school?
Jennie Cambier 4/25/2018 3:00 PMOffer different learning options / venues. Decrease the student/teacher ratio to allow for more teachers and more individual attention for those with greater needs. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONLand UseIndigenous speaker and activist Winona LaDuke says that, "most indigenous ceremonies, if you look to their essence, are about the restoration of balance — they are a reaffirmation of our relationship to creation. That is our intent: to restore, and then to retain balance and honor our part in creation." Why is balance important to sustainability?

REFLECTION QUESTIONLand UseHow difficult or easy was it to change your diet?
Jennie Cambier 4/25/2018 8:41 AMHaving worked on the zoo Ed Center, one of the things I learned that affects my daily choices is how harvesting palm oil, which is found in tons of foods and body products, contributes to deforestation of orangutan habitat. I don't buy peanut butter with palm oil, which is found in the "no stir" varieties. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFoodFun fact: Your brain and stomach register feelings of fullness after about 20 minutes of eating. While dishing food out, we tend to load our plates with more than we need. Using smaller plates helps to mitigate this. Aside from the environmental benefits, what other benefits might come out of this?
Jennie Cambier 4/20/2018 10:16 AMBeing more mindful of what we eat is so important. Having smaller portions might help us slow down, enjoy our food more and also take time to talk with our meal companions. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONBuildings and CitiesHow does using human-powered transportation make you feel?
