Food
Keep Track of Wasted Food
#3 Reduced Food Waste
I will keep a daily log of food I throw away during the EcoChallenge, either because it went bad before I ate it, I put too much on my plate, or it was scraps from food preparation.
Electricity Generation
Watch a Video about Methane Digesters
#30 Methane Digesters (large), #64 Methane Digesters (small)
I will watch a video about methane digesters (also commonly known as anaerobic digesters).

REFLECTION QUESTIONElectricity GenerationWhat does your vision of a sustainable community look like? What would need to be changed in order for such vision to become reality?
Olivea Cooper 4/23/2018 3:44 PMOne of my visions of a sustainable community is eating food seasonally that we have grown ourselves. We all would need to become educated about farming in order to produce enough food for ourselves and learn about how to store food for long periods. -
Olivea Cooper 4/15/2018 3:37 PMRestaurants have the tendency to over portion food, while I was at work yesterday I ordered a vegan sloppy joe. The bun they used for the vegan sloppy joe was far too large for the amount of sloppy joe they give you, I threw away half of the bun. Every sandwich comes with two gherkin pickles, I try to eat them every time however do not like them. I typically will waste two pickles every meal I eat there. I vouched yesterday that I need to remember to not get the pickles! I wasted six last week..I'm enjoying this challenge because it's testing me to think about how much food I'm wasting. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFoodAn average American throws out about 240 lbs of food per year. The average family of four spends $1,500 a year on food that they throw out. Where would you rather use this money?
Olivea Cooper 4/09/2018 11:37 AMPersonally although it's not very environmentally friendly I would rather use the money to travel!-
Olivea Cooper 4/09/2018 11:39 AMAbove is the answer I gave when asked what I would rather do with 1,500 dollars than waste food. We all waste food, I think this is a major problem with over consuming. I don't believe we think about the resources that were needed in order to grow our food.
