REFLECTION QUESTIONTransportTake a moment to think of places you frequent often (work, grocery store, natural areas). Could you choose one or two days a week to schedule driving with a friend, neighbor or co-worker to these places?
Laurel Douthit 4/12/2018 9:37 AMTo get to school I carpool with my Dad and my sister every morning. I carpool to school and sporting events with my friends as well. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONMaterialsHow could you incorporate other "R's" -- reduce, reuse, refuse, repair, repurpose, etc. -- into your lifestyle?
Laurel Douthit 4/12/2018 9:30 AMI Use reusable BPA free water bottles instead of disposable plastic water bottles. It allows me to drink more water in a day than I would with the disposable bottle, which is healthy for me, and the environment. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONLand UseHow difficult or easy was it to change your diet?
Laurel Douthit 4/10/2018 8:38 AMTo save money last week I decided to cut out all coffee from my diet just so that I wouldn't spend money. Now after reading this article, I'm seeing that I am also helping limit consumption of products and foods that cause deforestation. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFoodFun fact: Your brain and stomach register feelings of fullness after about 20 minutes of eating. While dishing food out, we tend to load our plates with more than we need. Using smaller plates helps to mitigate this. Aside from the environmental benefits, what other benefits might come out of this?
Laurel Douthit 4/10/2018 8:31 AMWhen I'm making a snack for myself or serving my portion for family dinner, I am very careful in being selective of how much I am grabbing to put on my plate. It not only helps with my health but the planet's health as well.
