Went and got my nails done last night at Primp and Polish on Grand. I have been going to this place for years and love the massage chairs and the fact that I can meet up with girlfriends and just relax. Turns out this place is co-owned by sisters Lauren and Kieu Bui. It is also listed on the foursquare guide to women owned businesses that Narada shared below (thanks Narada!)

I didn't know I was supporting a woman owned business with this purchase but this challenge gave me the impetus to do a little research and confirm. It was pretty cool to find that I was inadvertently doing the challenge. Today I will try to be more intentional with my support of WOBs.

    Two things learned yesterday:

    1) Primp and Polish is a women owned business - Show your support by getting your nails done!
    2) The receptionist turned me on to the Spotify playlist called 'Butter' and its on point!

  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Women and Girls
Globally, women typically invest a higher proportion of their earnings in their families and communities than men. How can you better support communities by supporting women?

Women role models are very important to society. The importance of women in different roles particularly in leadership roles became even more apparent recently when I discovered that one of the values that I hold is to have access to women mentors in the work place. It is surprising that it is something that is hard to find in today’s world and it could be something that attracts and retains women employees.

I hope to be that role model for other women as well, to show them that our objectives and outcomes are the same as our male colleagues and that our approaches maybe completely different, and that’s alright.

I’ve been doing some research into Ruth Bader Ginsburg and am excited to see her documentary coming out in May of this year.  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=biIRlcQqmOc

I love this quote by the notorious RBG in an interview -

“So now the perception is, yes, women are here to stay. And when I’m sometimes asked when will there be enough [women on the supreme court]? And I say when there are nine, people are shocked. But there’d been nine men, and nobody’s ever raised a question about that.”

Uh, I think we need to start an entire discussion group focused on RBG. This EcoChallenge is kinda cool but she totally amazing, inspiring, and powerful!

RBG is amazing!! I love this podcast about her masterful work with the Supreme Court to clarify the scope and intent of the 14th Amendment.
