  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Materials Properly Dispose of Refrigerants
How do you address your own feelings of concern, fear or despair about climate change?

    Fred Fan's avatar
    Fred Fan 4/25/2018 5:47 PM
What I can do about climate change is to continue to reduce my carbon dioxide emission. I drove hybrid vehicle to my work place though, I still need to take lots of efforts to do something to ease our climate change, like moving on paperless environment, composting kitchen scraps, planting trees etc. That's what I can do to help our planet a bit.as for anything else I could do to help our community ,surroundings, I'll try my best to do.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Materials Go Paperless
What do you want to prioritize over material 'stuff' in your own life?

    Fred Fan's avatar
    Fred Fan 4/25/2018 1:34 AM
I have kept going  paperless both at work and home.  Simple life could help to achieve this goal. Rags can be useful,do the tricks in cleaning our house. Besides that, we ask super market, utility corp. mobile company and so on to electronizeour invoices.Something like taht.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
Women and Girls Help Girls Overcome Health Barriers
In what other ways could you help girls overcome health barriers to being able to attend school?

    Fred Fan's avatar
    Fred Fan 4/24/2018 10:21 PM
Flourishing* I would try to fund the non-profit organizations and charitables to help them through professional experts to assist those who have health barriers such as uncontrolled asthma and vision problems etc. That may be one of the other ways to help them though It's a challenge to get over.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
Women and Girls Make School More Affordable
Why is it important that girls have equal access to education in order to reduce our global greenhouse gas emissions?

    Fred Fan's avatar
    Fred Fan 4/24/2018 8:11 PM
Regarding planting trees in my garden,  my wife and I want to make a proper arrangement of old trees, madagascar Almond I planted before, we also transplanted them. I have no green thumb though, I made it with trees fluroushing. Good luck. Someone says "Luck favors the prepared."
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Materials Install a Low-Flow Showerhead
What would a sustainable water future in your region look like? What needs to change?

    Fred Fan's avatar
    Fred Fan 4/24/2018 7:43 PM
I need to start with changing my showerhead to save water at first. My old one seems to flow too much, compared to the other showerhead at home. So I changed it at once which make shower more comfortable and time -saving. That's what I call environment protection consciousness, isn't it ?
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Transport Use Public Transit
How has your access to various kinds of transporation throughout your life influenced your current attitudes about transportation and your transportation behavior?

    Fred Fan's avatar
    Fred Fan 4/24/2018 7:24 PM
I drove my hybrid vehicle to work or travel everywhere around 7years ago. It really cost me an arm and a leg due to my shallow pockets.  I still grit my teeth and kept going on having it to save our environment. Ha ha. Not really. But I need to save my money first, do a little thing good to our surroundings. I enentually realized my dream with the encouragement from my wife. Reducing carbon dioxide emission is my fundmental work to do. A piece of cake. That's it.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
Land Use Learn about Temperate Forests
As you learn more about the scope and seriousness of the environmental challenges we face, what impact does that have on your thinking and actions? What are the parts that feel overwhelming? What parts help you feel hopeful?

    Fred Fan's avatar
    Fred Fan 4/24/2018 6:57 PM
It crash on my mind that the drastic climate chang break out very often, which says in Chinese ,"乍暖還寒." I need to do something good to our environment ,especially cutting the carbon dioxide emission. There are a lot of things I and we can do together from the Drawdown website. Let's do it endlessly to save our planet. Go for it.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
Women and Girls Research Barriers to Participation and Representation
What are some of the barriers that exist to women's equal participation and/or representation in your community?

    Fred Fan's avatar
    Fred Fan 4/24/2018 6:43 PM
We often share our responsibility to support our household finance. we try to squeeze our time out of the limit break time to do the priority, like taking care of the two kids when they were in kindergarten, emphasizing on the responsibilities they should take on their own. No barriers have existed to women's participation at all. In my opinion, the barriers come from yourselves within, like your concept, environmentwhere you grew up, family background ,personality and experiences etc.

I was inspired by some of the paragraph, like "Wave and tidal energy is currently the most expensive of all renewables. Still, the opportunity of marine-based energy is massive. Proponents believe wave power could provide 25 percent of U.S. electricity, for example. Realizing it will require substantial investment and expanded research." We need to think it over how we can take advantage of it efficiently. Before it , I need to save energy by not turning on air-con under the 30 degree Celcius in my office. Plus we don't switch on air-con at home in mid-summer at home. Electric fan can do well enough. How about you?
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Land Use Forest-Friendly Foods 1
How is your diet currently impacting deforestation? What can you do to decrease your negative impact and increase your positive impact?

    Fred Fan's avatar
    Fred Fan 4/24/2018 2:39 AM
I have a balanced diet currently.  I can eat more vegetables and fruits and less pork, beef day by day to increase positive impact.
