What did you learn about indigenous peoples' land management that you can apply in your own life?

I could not find a local meeting or presentation, but I did learn that indigenous peoples and local communities hold formal rights to 18 percent of global lands—representing well over 20 percent of forest carbon stores and much of the Earth’s biodiversity. With their important traditional knowledge and vast experience in environmental stewardship, indigenous peoples and local communities are uniquely positioned as conservation leaders. One of the most effective ways to achieve lasting positive outcomes for nature and people is to partner with indigenous peoples and local communities on shared conservation goals.

Meat-heavy diets were not compatible with lower yields similar to those under organic farming, or under the potential negative effects of climate change. Of all the variables involved, the feasibility of feeding the world with no deforestation is more dependent on what we are eating.

Anaerobic manure digesters (also called methane digesters) collect manure and convert the energy stored in its organic matter into methane, which is used to produce energy!

The potential of global biomass as a sustainable energy source is widely recognized. Thus, at present, a bioenergy supply of 270 EJ, possible on a sustainable basis, can cover almost 50% of the world's total primary energy demand. The potential for energy from biomass depends in part on land availability.

The Micro Wind Turbine is a portable energy source for remote regions and enables people to charge USB devices far away from civilization. It weights less than one kilogram, folds down to the size of a trekking pole and can operate day and night.

Geothermal energy is reliable, abundant, and efficient. Project Drawdown states that public investment will play a crucial role in its expansion. What kind of investment seems most feasible for you?

While geothermal energy may have previously been difficult to access, hot new technologies increase availability. One of many new approaches is is the enhanced geothermal system (EGS) which targets deep underground cavities and creates hydrothermal pools where they do not currently exist. By injecting high-pressure water into the earth, EGS creates hydrothermal pools, which allows water to be pumped down into earth through one borehole, become heated, and then return to the surface through another hole. After being used for electricity production, injection wells can be restored. Or, in case of Iceland’s Blue Lagoon geothermal spa, the spots can be used for safe recreation, which creates massive profit.
