REFLECTION QUESTIONTransportHow has your access to various kinds of transporation throughout your life influenced your current attitudes about transportation and your transportation behavior?
Laura Cooper Hall 4/23/2018 1:41 PMWhen I was a teenager I lived somewhere were public transport was easily accessible and also very reliable. I didnt think much of it but now appreciate it immensely- the ability to move freely should be a public good everywhere, though is not often considered a priority. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONMaterialsHow could you incorporate other "R's" -- reduce, reuse, refuse, repair, repurpose, etc. -- into your lifestyle?
Laura Cooper Hall 4/20/2018 10:29 AMBy following the steps outlines in this challenge (like smaller plates, recycling, learning more about alternative food solutions, etc), and to continue shopping second-hand or at thrift stores, to use my sewing machine to repair clothes that I would otherwise donate, I could also choose the "line" or "pool" options if I ever feel the need to go somewhere by lyft/car, and I could plan my meals more strategically to make sure I dont waste food. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFoodAn average American throws out about 240 lbs of food per year. The average family of four spends $1,500 a year on food that they throw out. Where would you rather use this money?
Laura Cooper Hall 4/20/2018 10:25 AMI'd rather use the money on recycled/second-hand clothing or on locally-sourced fruits and vegetables. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFoodHad you heard of the term silvopasture" before now? After learning more about it, what do you think is the biggest advantage of silvopasture?
Laura Cooper Hall 4/17/2018 1:06 PMI had not heard of "silvopasture" before now. After learning about it I think the biggest advantage of it is that it deals with multiple issues at once. I think encouraging tree planting and encouraging additional sources of income through livestock is a very productive goal on multiple levels, and its great to see that these practices have actually been around for a while and are increasingly getting more attention! -
REFLECTION QUESTIONBuildings and CitiesHow does using human-powered transportation make you feel?
Laura Cooper Hall 4/17/2018 1:04 PMIt makes me feel like I am part of a symbiotic relationship- I feel healthy and the planet feels healthy! But it also makes me feel like cities and towns need to develop more green-friendly infrastructure.
