  • REFLECTION QUESTION
Women and Girls Host a Film Screening
What is the next step beyond raising awareness of women's and gender equality issues?

    Shane Hansen's avatar

Beyond awareness, action is the next step in changing any issue. I can stand up, speak up, and act to support equality.

  • REFLECTION QUESTION
Transport Test Drive an Electric Bike
Half of all trips made in the US are three miles or less; 72% of them are driven. Private vehicles account for 60% of trips of a mile or less. Do you feel that these facts apply to you? If so, how might you incorporate an electric bike into your lifestyle?

    Shane Hansen's avatar
    Shane Hansen 4/21/2018 5:37 PM
I used to bike a lot more than I do now. Having a family has changed my habits dramatically. I hope that as my 4 kids get older that I will be able to re-ignite some of those old habits like biking for short errands that have become difficult to do while carrying small kids in tow.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
Land Use Support Indigenous Peoples' Land Management
Indigenous speaker and activist Winona LaDuke says that, "most indigenous ceremonies, if you look to their essence, are about the restoration of balance — they are a reaffirmation of our relationship to creation. That is our intent: to restore, and then to retain balance and honor our part in creation." Why is balance important to sustainability?

    Shane Hansen's avatar
    Shane Hansen 4/20/2018 4:32 PM
Sustainability is all about maintaining a system at a steady level. If that system is not balanced, it would be impossible to maintain it. Balance and Sustainability must go hand in hand with each other.

Land Use Learn about Local Indigenous Practices
What did you learn about indigenous peoples' land management that you can apply in your own life?

    Shane Hansen's avatar
    Shane Hansen 4/19/2018 7:11 PM
I really appreciated our local tribes view of land as a history of their ancestors. There may not be many books written by their forefathers, but the land tells the story of their people. The history embedded in the land is worth saving.
