REFLECTION QUESTIONWomen and GirlsWhen family planning focuses on healthcare provision and meeting the expressed needs of women, it results in empowerment, equality, and well-being, and the benefits to the planet are side effects. Why is family planning an important civil rights consideration?
Karen Johnson 4/18/2018 12:25 PMIf women don't have access to family planning, they don't have full control over their bodies. Without such autonomy, there are no real rights. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONBuildings and CitiesHow does using human-powered transportation make you feel?
Karen Johnson 4/10/2018 11:51 AMI like the invigorating aspects, but don't love the weather issues. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFoodFun fact: Your brain and stomach register feelings of fullness after about 20 minutes of eating. While dishing food out, we tend to load our plates with more than we need. Using smaller plates helps to mitigate this. Aside from the environmental benefits, what other benefits might come out of this?
Karen Johnson 4/09/2018 12:37 PMUsing smaller utensils, helps, too. I might lose a little weight :-) -
REFLECTION QUESTIONElectricity GenerationGeothermal energy is reliable, abundant, and efficient. Project Drawdown states that public investment will play a crucial role in its expansion. What kind of investment seems most feasible for you?
Karen Johnson 4/06/2018 8:39 AMAt this point, I don't think that I can do much for my own living space because I live in a condo building and any changes happen at a glacial pace (we talked about installing solar panels several years ago and, though some research has been done, we have made no real progress). I can keep educating myself and others and prepare for a future home. -
Karen Johnson 4/06/2018 8:20 AMNot much that I learned said anything about the carbon footprint involved in installation, which seems important. Especially for retrofitting and with varied depth of bedrock. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONMaterialsWhat do you want to prioritize over material 'stuff' in your own life?
