REFLECTION QUESTIONMaterialsWhat concerns you the most about how we are affecting the planet? Consider both local and global actions.
Abraham Judson 4/24/2018 5:41 PMWhat concerns me most about how we are affecting the planet is that most people don't bother to learn about what the things they buy come in, or how those things are desposed of. Locally I think Asheville is pretty "green", but globally, places like China are full of plastics that are not decomposing. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONLand UseAs you learn more about the scope and seriousness of the environmental challenges we face, what impact does that have on your thinking and actions? What are the parts that feel overwhelming? What parts help you feel hopeful?
Abraham Judson 4/23/2018 5:53 PMI sometimes think about every impact my actions cause, but usually I figure that if it's used by people I know care about the envornment, then it's safe for me to use. Sometimes I get overwhelmed but not often. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFoodNow that you know the difference between use by, sell by, and best by dates, how will you view expiration dates differently?
Abraham Judson 4/23/2018 5:48 PMI still view them the same, if it's a quickly perishable food I usually check the date just to be sure I'm not eating rotten foods. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONLand UseHow is your diet currently impacting deforestation? What can you do to decrease your negative impact and increase your positive impact?
Abraham Judson 4/23/2018 8:37 AMI eat a lot of foods with palm oil as an ingredient. To decrease the negativity, people can read the ingredients on the foods they buy to see if they contain any things that use deforestaion to make the product. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONElectricity GenerationGeothermal energy is reliable, abundant, and efficient. Project Drawdown states that public investment will play a crucial role in its expansion. What kind of investment seems most feasible for you?
Abraham Judson 4/17/2018 11:42 AMRather than using coal to heat things, most countries could be using the other 93% of geothermal energy the world has to offer, also it's free, unlike coal energy.-

REFLECTION QUESTIONElectricity GenerationHad you ever heard of biomass techonology before this? What did you learn that surprised you? Share this with your friends!
Abraham Judson 4/16/2018 11:25 AMI have heard of Biomass before now. Biomass is a clean way to power heat for buildings. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFoodHad you heard of the term silvopasture" before now? After learning more about it, what do you think is the biggest advantage of silvopasture?
Abraham Judson 4/13/2018 11:23 AMI have not heard of silvopasture until today. I think the biggest advantage would be the amount of CO2 and Methane gas that is reduced by silvopasture. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONElectricity GenerationWhat does your vision of a sustainable community look like? What would need to be changed in order for such vision to become reality?
Abraham Judson 4/12/2018 11:22 AMI think a sustainable community would have everyone coexisting with eachother and nature. The class system would have to be eliminated and we would have to find an alternative to all non-renewable resources. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONMaterialsHow do you address your own feelings of concern, fear or despair about climate change?
Abraham Judson 4/11/2018 11:25 AMClimate Change is nuts. More people need to recycle their refridgerators. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFoodWhat do you think contributes to people in North America eating more meat than other countries, and what does this say about North American values and ways of living? How do we start shifting a meat-focused food culture?
Abraham Judson 4/10/2018 11:20 AMI had 4 meals. I love meat and animal products. would not recommend-
Sarah Duffer 4/10/2018 12:21 PMWhat other challenges will you choose then? Have you thought about either eating smaller portions of meat (that's an ecochallenge) or eating meat less often (another ecochallenge)?
