Participant Feed

Reflection, encouragement, and relationship building are all important aspects of getting a new habit to stick.
Share thoughts, encourage others, and reinforce positive new habits on the Feed.

To get started, share “your why.” Why did you join the challenge and choose the actions you did?

  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Food Smaller Portions
Fun fact: Your brain and stomach register feelings of fullness after about 20 minutes of eating. While dishing food out, we tend to load our plates with more than we need. Using smaller plates helps to mitigate this. Aside from the environmental benefits, what other benefits might come out of this?

Generally healthier lifestyles. Over eating is a huge problem in the US, and just taking your time helps reduce it.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Materials Recycle Everything I Can
How could you incorporate other "R's" -- reduce, reuse, refuse, repair, repurpose, etc. -- into your lifestyle?

    Barrett Kent's avatar

I think the most basic thing you can do is use both sides of every piece of paper. It would immediately cut paper consumption by half.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Transport Use Public Transit
How has your access to various kinds of transporation throughout your life influenced your current attitudes about transportation and your transportation behavior?

I have lived near a bus stop, and so I have really learned the value of public transportation. It is my main source of transportation every day.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
Food Learn the Truth About Expiration Dates
Now that you know the difference between use by, sell by, and best by dates, how will you view expiration dates differently?

    Barrett Kent's avatar
    Barrett Kent 4/04/2018 10:43 AM
I learned that all of the dates given on foods denote the times that the product will be at its best quality, rather than indicating when it will be safe to eat. I will make sure to eat food before it has expired to reduce waste.
