Food Learn the Truth About Expiration Dates

Now that you know the difference between use by, sell by, and best by dates, how will you view expiration dates differently?

I was surprised the USDA doesn't require use by/sell by/best by dates for anything except baby formula. I think there would be a lot less food waste if food manufacturers put some effort into defining a definite time frame for foods and provide use by date. The problem with that though, is that the use by date is only the last day while the product is at peak quality. Maybe they should incorporate that onto the label somehow too so people know they can still use it afterwards as long as it's not spoiled. I think now I have a better understanding of what these different dates actually mean. The USDA website link was very helpful.
