Reflection, encouragement, and relationship building are all important aspects of getting a new habit to stick.
Share thoughts, encourage others, and reinforce positive new habits on the Feed.

To get started, share “your why.” Why did you join the challenge and choose the actions you did?

We are headed towards a future where there will be no other options for nonrenewable power sources, because they are nonrenewable. We will have to covert sooner than later and it might as well be before we destroy our entire atmosphere and environment.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Land Use
How is your diet currently impacting deforestation? What can you do to decrease your negative impact and increase your positive impact?

    Rowan Lang's avatar
    Rowan Lang 4/24/2018 11:19 AM
In order to reduce deforestation with my diet I could seek out items without Palm-Oil and other large resource contributing to deforestation.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Land Use
As you learn more about the scope and seriousness of the environmental challenges we face, what impact does that have on your thinking and actions? What are the parts that feel overwhelming? What parts help you feel hopeful?

    Rowan Lang's avatar
    Rowan Lang 4/23/2018 11:58 AM
Programs and global projects like this have a good impact but it just seems like there are never enough people willing to contribute, and not just for a small period of time but consistently.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Food
Now that you know the difference between use by, sell by, and best by dates, how will you view expiration dates differently?

    Rowan Lang's avatar
    Rowan Lang 4/23/2018 11:31 AM
This shows that foods last much longer than the dates on the side, they are mainly ment for sale & display.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Electricity Generation
Geothermal energy is reliable, abundant, and efficient. Project Drawdown states that public investment will play a crucial role in its expansion. What kind of investment seems most feasible for you?

    Rowan Lang's avatar
    Rowan Lang 4/17/2018 11:48 AM
Small donations from millions of people would be the easiest way to provide funding.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Electricity Generation
Had you ever heard of biomass techonology before this? What did you learn that surprised you? Share this with your friends!

    Rowan Lang's avatar
    Rowan Lang 4/17/2018 11:47 AM
No I had not heard of biomass before this challenge, I didn't know that this source of heat that we as humans have been using for thousands years could be used to provide mass amounts of power.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Transport
How has your access to various kinds of transporation throughout your life influenced your current attitudes about transportation and your transportation behavior?

    Rowan Lang's avatar
    Rowan Lang 4/13/2018 11:35 AM
I think that public transit is a great thing, it provides a form of affordable transportation for those without cars or bikes, as well as a steady form of commute for myself
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Food
Had you heard of the term silvopasture" before now? After learning more about it, what do you think is the biggest advantage of silvopasture?

    Rowan Lang's avatar
    Rowan Lang 4/13/2018 11:27 AM
I had not heard of the term before. Silvopastures seem like an extremely effective way to reduce the methane and carbon emissions that come from livestock, the biggest advantage would most likely be the effect the trees have on the emissions as well as the quality of food and health they provide for the livestock.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Materials
How could you incorporate other "R's" -- reduce, reuse, refuse, repair, repurpose, etc. -- into your lifestyle?

    Rowan Lang's avatar
    Rowan Lang 4/12/2018 11:25 AM
I have recycled everything that I have used that I can.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Electricity Generation
What does your vision of a sustainable community look like? What would need to be changed in order for such vision to become reality?

    Rowan Lang's avatar
    Rowan Lang 4/12/2018 11:23 AM
A self sustainable community would be one that could rely on renewable and clean energy, natural and renewable food sources, and clean sustained water. This could happen by using solar panels, sustainable farming, and natural water wells.
