  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Food
Fun fact: Your brain and stomach register feelings of fullness after about 20 minutes of eating. While dishing food out, we tend to load our plates with more than we need. Using smaller plates helps to mitigate this. Aside from the environmental benefits, what other benefits might come out of this?

Smaller plates hold less food and hopefully by using smaller plates , it can lead to weight loss!!!
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Food
Now that you know the difference between use by, sell by, and best by dates, how will you view expiration dates differently?

Learning that the use by, sell by, and best by dates are NOT safety issues, I will not being throwing food out just because the date has past, but rather focus on the quality of the food.  I was stunned to learn that 30-40 % of the world's food is wasted and am hopeful that by the year 2020 we will be able to cut our waste, at least, by half!

What did you find out? What is the most interesting fact you learned?

Geothermal Energy is a free heat source even though the drilling is expensive. According to the Geothermal Energy Association, 39 countries could supply 100 percent of their electricity needs from geothermal energy, yet only 6 to 7 percent of the world’s potential geothermal power has been tapped. This is a sad fact that we are not using our resources wisely!
