REFLECTION QUESTIONElectricity GenerationWhat does your vision of a sustainable community look like? What would need to be changed in order for such vision to become reality?
Denise L 4/25/2018 7:16 AMI understand the concept of using livestock-waste and organic waste for many things. However, we must first consider eliminating processed chemically infused foods and all the synthetic fertilizers that feed/treat the foods we eat. Then, perhaps the referenced waste used will be more beneficial and safe.
-
REFLECTION QUESTIONFoodNow that you know the difference between use by, sell by, and best by dates, how will you view expiration dates differently?
Denise L 4/25/2018 7:00 AMI would typically toss everything by the expiration date. These dates are a "sales conspiracy" to generate more revenue! Stop the confusion and many will probably not waste as much. Yes, I have shared what I have learned with many already and will continue to spread the word. :-) -
REFLECTION QUESTIONMaterialsName some of the human activities impacting the health of water systems, both locally (your watershed) and globally (freshwater and oceans). What can you do to improve the health of water systems?
Denise L 4/25/2018 6:57 AMUtilize local hazard waste days Vs. using your own drains / toilet to dispose of unused medication (even the basic "Tylenol" types of medication). Avoid fertilizer all together or if you choose to use it, find organic. Everything that has run off, ends up in the water system to be filtered. Reflect on that. There are traces of everything in our water. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFoodHad you heard of the term silvopasture" before now? After learning more about it, what do you think is the biggest advantage of silvopasture?

Denise L 4/10/2018 1:02 PMPrior to reviewing the educational materials related to expiration dates, everything in the house would be tossed based on the printed date. Now I understand there was a lot of waste by doing so. Many / most items are good beyond the (still confusing) dates printed. The only date that matters 100% is baby formula; it MUST be tossed by the date printed. -

Kristin Bloser 4/04/2018 10:39 AMHi Denise, I know that links to videos and such may be an issue to view through our work computers. EcoChallenge does work on personal devices. So, if there is something I want to view that I can't from my work computer, I'll look at it on my smart phone. -
Mari-Lynn Flaig 4/02/2018 1:21 PMHave you tried loading Google Chrome to your desktop and trying there? the X5100 number helped me to do that and I have less issues with loading pages from the links now. Hope that helps and thanks for being on our team!
