  • REFLECTION QUESTION
Electricity Generation Communicate With My Elected Officials
What inspires you to act on sustainable energy and other energy issues?

    Anna Long's avatar
    Anna Long 4/25/2018 12:07 PM
I think that I'm inspired to act on sustainable energy because we're using more and more energy everyday. We need to find a sustainable energy source so we won't use up all of our energy and so we can stop damaging our Earth.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Materials Share Bioplastic Disposal Tips
What concerns you the most about how we are affecting the planet? Consider both local and global actions.

    Anna Long's avatar
    Anna Long 4/23/2018 11:20 AM
I think that emitting greenhouse gases concerns me the most because it's one of the main reasons for climate change. I think that it concerns me the most because our Earth isn't the same as it once was and if we keep doing what we're doing, we won't have resources to use.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Materials Properly Dispose of Refrigerants
How do you address your own feelings of concern, fear or despair about climate change?

    Anna Long's avatar
    Anna Long 4/23/2018 11:15 AM
I try to think about possible solutions for climate change. I'm also trying to live "greener".
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
Land Use Learn about Temperate Forests
As you learn more about the scope and seriousness of the environmental challenges we face, what impact does that have on your thinking and actions? What are the parts that feel overwhelming? What parts help you feel hopeful?

    Anna Long's avatar
    Anna Long 4/23/2018 11:12 AM
Learning about environmental changes makes me think about all the different ways that we could be saving the planet instead of destroying it. I think that figuring out how to stop greenhouse gases is a little overwhelming, but I know that we'll find an affective solution to it.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
Food Learn the Truth About Expiration Dates
Now that you know the difference between use by, sell by, and best by dates, how will you view expiration dates differently?

    Anna Long's avatar
    Anna Long 4/22/2018 10:09 AM
I will view them differently when I go shopping for food. I will look to buy the food that will be taken off the shelf first, so it won't go to waste. I will also make sure to examine the food past the experation date to see if it's still safe to eat.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Land Use Forest-Friendly Foods 1
How is your diet currently impacting deforestation? What can you do to decrease your negative impact and increase your positive impact?

    Anna Long's avatar
    Anna Long 4/22/2018 9:47 AM
My diet is impacting deforestation by a lot because I consume many of the foods that cause deforestation. I am going to try to eat less animal products and start to have a more plant based diet.

Electricity Generation Learn More About Geothermal Energy
Geothermal energy is reliable, abundant, and efficient. Project Drawdown states that public investment will play a crucial role in its expansion. What kind of investment seems most feasible for you?

    Anna Long's avatar
    Anna Long 4/17/2018 11:56 AM
Public investment will play a  very important role because the more people that know about geothermal energy the better. The more people that know about geothermal energy, the chance of making a change is greater. I think that we should start educating more people about geothermal energy and start organizing fundraisers for it.

Electricity Generation Learn More about Biomass
Had you ever heard of biomass techonology before this? What did you learn that surprised you? Share this with your friends!

    Anna Long's avatar
    Anna Long 4/16/2018 11:20 AM
I have heard of some biomass technology before this. I learned that carbon-rich biomass can be used as heat, electricity, or be processed into oil or gas.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Food Learn More about Silvopasture
Had you heard of the term silvopasture" before now? After learning more about it, what do you think is the biggest advantage of silvopasture?

    Anna Long's avatar
    Anna Long 4/13/2018 11:33 AM
I have not heard the term silvopasture until now, but I'm glad that I have now. After learning about it, I think that the biggest advantage is that it counteracts the methane emissions. Greenhouse gases are becoming more of a problem and we need to find more ways of counteracting them or more ways of giving off less emissions.
