REFLECTION QUESTIONFoodHow does environmental quality influence your sense of community?
Matthew Mahoney 4/25/2018 12:29 PMCaring for the environment reflects an ongoing commitment to the place and the people of your community, and to its continued well being. Neglect for the environment fosters indifference. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFoodProducing uneaten food squanders many resources—seeds, water, energy, land, fertilizer, hours of labor, financial capital. Which of these motivates you the most to change your behavior regarding food waste?
Matthew Mahoney 4/18/2018 8:56 AMComposting has made us acutely aware at our house how much food is wasted every day. We have made a deliberate effort as a result to buy on an as needed basis, instead of bulk shopping, especially for produce. And as a bonus, we are eating more fresh food. Fresh food is so much better! -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFoodWhat do you think contributes to people in North America eating more meat than other countries, and what does this say about North American values and ways of living? How do we start shifting a meat-focused food culture?
Matthew Mahoney 4/18/2018 8:51 AMHabit. Availability. State sponsorship of meat production. We are too short sited and biased toward convenience in our eating habits. Better vegetarian options in schools, more support for organic farming vs agra-business.
