REFLECTION QUESTIONTransport Use Muscle PowerHow do your transportation choices affect your engagement in your community? Does your experience differ while walking, riding transit, biking or driving?
Jennifer Martel 4/24/2018 8:52 AMI've found since moving to a bike-friend city, I have taking a lot more opportunities to stop and appreciate the beauty of the place I'm living. While driving, I would be tempted to pull-over and take photos or simply admire a beautiful sunset, but it was always easier to just keep going. It's almost as if I felt more separate from my surroundings. I feel like I'm more connected to the nature around me when I can bike to my commitments. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFood Reduce Animal ProductsWhat do you think contributes to people in North America eating more meat than other countries, and what does this say about North American values and ways of living? How do we start shifting a meat-focused food culture?
Jennifer Martel 4/24/2018 8:48 AMBeing from Canada, I was taught from a young age (elementary school) about the food pyramid which put an emphasis on eating meat and dairy products. I believe that North Americans have been mislead for decades about the importance of eating meat and dairy products. There should be more information about the alternative ways of getting the proper nutrients humans need, especially children.
While I don't believe that every person has to live a completely vegetarian/vegan diets, there is definitely a need to reduce the amount of animal product consumption.
