  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Land Use
Higher standards of living are very often dependent on moving our environmental costs elsewhere. What are some specific ways in which the environmental impacts of your own lifestyle might be shifted elsewhere?

    Jahreiase McLaughlin's avatar
    Jahreiase McLaughlin 4/25/2018 6:58 AM
because if u move somewhere else it can effect you because u will not have a house and might not be able to afford the house. The environment impacts you because it can make it so there is stuff you do not want to be there so u move like harmful stuff.

only 10,000 more points and we win the competition
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Food
In North America, up to 65% of food waste happens at the consumer level. Chef Steven Satterfield advocates for utilizing every part of a vegetable. How can you incorporate using an entire vegetable, including the skins, tops, and stalks during your next meal prep?

    Jahreiase McLaughlin's avatar
    Jahreiase McLaughlin 4/25/2018 6:39 AM
because when u make a meal u should not waste any food even if you do not like it.The main reason is because people need the food that you waste and are dying because they do not have good food and water.Because i will make sure to eat vegetables including corn, carrots,ETC
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Electricity Generation
What inspires you to act on sustainable energy and other energy issues?

    Jahreiase McLaughlin's avatar
    Jahreiase McLaughlin 4/25/2018 6:34 AM
because it effects global warming and in like 100 years or so global warming could be so bad and it could tear up the environment really bad so i am trying to help wind energy.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Food
An average American throws out about 240 lbs of food per year. The average family of four spends $1,500 a year on food that they throw out. Where would you rather use this money?

    Jahreiase McLaughlin's avatar
    Jahreiase McLaughlin 4/25/2018 5:53 AM
yes i rather use money then throwing away food because some people need food to survive and the food that they throw becomes wasted that someone could be using to eat and survivee
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Materials
What concerns you the most about how we are affecting the planet? Consider both local and global actions.

    Jahreiase McLaughlin's avatar
    Jahreiase McLaughlin 4/24/2018 6:35 AM
The most that concerns me is littering and waste that goes in the streams, rivers, lakes and oceans because it can pollute the water and in like 100 years the world may not be here if we keep trashing it.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Land Use
As you learn more about the scope and seriousness of the environmental challenges we face, what impact does that have on your thinking and actions? What are the parts that feel overwhelming? What parts help you feel hopeful?

    Jahreiase McLaughlin's avatar
    Jahreiase McLaughlin 4/24/2018 6:21 AM
    1. people need to take care of the environment. Im not overwhelmed. That people at least try to help the forests somewhat.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Land Use
How is your diet currently impacting deforestation? What can you do to decrease your negative impact and increase your positive impact?

    Jahreiase McLaughlin's avatar
    Jahreiase McLaughlin 4/23/2018 7:00 AM
because we need to stop using things that are cutting down forests and are harming the environment like coffee, chocolate,ETC
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Food
Now that you know the difference between use by, sell by, and best by dates, how will you view expiration dates differently?

    Jahreiase McLaughlin's avatar

because i will pay attention to when i should use expiration dates and how long after i can still use them
