We support our local farm by joining the CSA and volunteering our time.  My son is also working on an Eagle Scout project at the farm.

What are some of the barriers that exist to women's equal participation and/or representation in your community?

Voter registration among women is greater than among men, but turn out tends to be less than 50% among women in Pennsylvania.  There is also a notable lack of women in elected office at all levels in Pennsylvania, with the state ranking in the bottom 10 in the country.  Hopefully, some ground can be made up in the 2018 elections and beyond, which will allow a corresponding change in priorities.

Food Keep Track of Wasted Food
An average American throws out about 240 lbs of food per year. The average family of four spends $1,500 a year on food that they throw out. Where would you rather use this money?

Learning about where our food waste happens - leftovers that don't get eaten, ingredients for planned meals that get postponed.  It all goes in the compost and/or to the chickens, but we can do better.  For me it's not so much about the money wasted, but on the wasted resources and labor.

    Food Support Local Food Systems
Dependable fresh food, supporting local farmers and building resilient communities are just a few benefits of local food systems. Which of these advantages inspire you the most?
