Participant Feed

Reflection, encouragement, and relationship building are all important aspects of getting a new habit to stick.
Share thoughts, encourage others, and reinforce positive new habits on the Feed.

To get started, share “your why.” Why did you join the challenge and choose the actions you did?

  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Food
Now that you know the difference between use by, sell by, and best by dates, how will you view expiration dates differently?

I will keep food for a longer period of time before I will consider it bad and through it out.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Electricity Generation
Geothermal energy is reliable, abundant, and efficient. Project Drawdown states that public investment will play a crucial role in its expansion. What kind of investment seems most feasible for you?

Geothermal energy seems more feasible when starting a new development or structure. If I were to build a house when I was older it would be more feasible.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Transport
Take a moment to think of places you frequent often (work, grocery store, natural areas). Could you choose one or two days a week to schedule driving with a friend, neighbor or co-worker to these places?

Carpooling a great way to reduce carbon emissions. You shouldn't drive two cars to the same place if there's room to fit everyone in one car. It also allows less people to drive and more people can relax.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Materials
How could you incorporate other "R's" -- reduce, reuse, refuse, repair, repurpose, etc. -- into your lifestyle?

    Edward Moreadith's avatar
    Edward Moreadith 4/24/2018 9:34 AM
After this activity I learned that incorporating the R's is much easier than people think. It only takes a few steps to to incorporate them into your everyday life.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Food
Had you heard of the term silvopasture" before now? After learning more about it, what do you think is the biggest advantage of silvopasture?

I’ve heard of it but I never knew how it was used. I didn’t know who energy efficient, and clean it was. I never knew that it was able to be used for heating.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Food
Dependable fresh food, supporting local farmers and building resilient communities are just a few benefits of local food systems. Which of these advantages inspire you the most?

Locally based foods use less energy for transportation, they support the local economy, and you know how and where the food is being produced.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Electricity Generation
Had you ever heard of biomass techonology before this? What did you learn that surprised you? Share this with your friends!

After learning more about refrigeration and air conditioning disposal it made me realize how big of an impact improper disposal has on climate change, and why we need to dispose of them properly.

I agree. I feel like if we were to take that action it would really make a differece.
