On the one hand it is challenging to find time each day, but on the other hand this challenge is structured to allow for a few minutes investment in time that helps sets good habits for connecting with responsible decisions and learning.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Women and Girls
What are some of the barriers that exist to women's equal participation and/or representation in your community?

I am not aware about barriers in my geographic community to women's participation, as our area has women-owned businesses, a good track record of women in politics. Perhaps the fact that I'm not aware of barriers is a barrier, as there likely are systemic issues.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION

Geothermal energy is reliable, abundant, and efficient. Project Drawdown states that public investment will play a crucial role in its expansion. What kind of investment seems most feasible for you?

Public investment in continued tax breaks is important, and at a larger scale, investment in district geothermal could benefit projects and buildings that may not have the available land square footage to support their own needs. Finding ways to enable and empower individual companies and landowners to invest and contribute so that infrastructure can meet the needs of the many would be a positive change.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Electricity Generation
Identify some ways in which modern human societies have become unsustainable. What kind of roles do individuals have in creating and changing practices in society?

The first step individuals can take in creating and changing practices is to become informed: learn about evolving technology and globally ethical and sustainable practices, then be inventive about finding opportunities to engage in your own life.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Electricity Generation
Micro turbines can be placed on large structures to take advantage of stronger, steadier breezes. The Eiffel Tower now sports vertical axis turbines that produce electricity for use on site. Where could micro turbines potentially be installed in your city?

It would be great to have them both in areas with high visibility for the greatest number of people - like our stadiums and malls - but to also pair them with buildings and organizations already committed to higher levels of sustainability and performance.
