In the past, I also rarely ate food past either best-by or use-by for paranoia that it would make me sick, but this isn't the case at all. Best-by is what it sounds, and only assures peak quality, but it is perfectly safe to eat for a few days after! I now know to give food a longer shelf-life and stop wasting uneaten and almost depleted products.

REFLECTION QUESTIONFoodNow that you know the difference between use by, sell by, and best by dates, how will you view expiration dates differently?
Emily Noce 4/18/2018 6:09 PMWhile I knew sell by was aimed at consumers and knew that it wasn't an indiction of the product going bad, I always thought of it as having just a few days after, but a 1/3 of many products shelf-lives is after the labeled sell by date!
