Brenna Phelps
"I want to leave this earth better than I found it. I will do this by learning as much as I can to make a positive impact on the environment and lives around me. I will live responsibly and share the knowledge I have gained with others, with the hope of inspiring them to also take part in conservation action. Every habit change can make a huge difference for wild places and wildlife!"

REFLECTION QUESTIONFoodWhat do you think contributes to people in North America eating more meat than other countries, and what does this say about North American values and ways of living? How do we start shifting a meat-focused food culture?
Brenna Phelps 4/04/2018 12:06 PMMany people have been raised to believe that the only way to get substantial protein is through meat. I think people need to find ways to find protein through plants-products, like nuts, seeds, hummus, and quinoa. Americans don't have to think about substitutions because meat products are so inexpensive compared to other countries. We start to shift this by challenging ourselves to replace meals a little bit at a time to more sustainable protein sources and sharing what we know with others. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFoodWhat did you find out? What is the most interesting fact you learned?
Brenna Phelps 4/04/2018 12:02 PMI learned that there are some creative solutions for rice and other main crops, like planting trees among the crops to mitigate the impact of the crops. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONMaterialsHow could you incorporate other "R's" -- reduce, reuse, refuse, repair, repurpose, etc. -- into your lifestyle?
Brenna Phelps 4/04/2018 11:51 AMI would like to work at refusing single-use plastics - buying more in bulk and avoiding plastic when I can. I recycle a lot, but I would rather not have the plastic in the first place. I will also shop for repurposed furniture when it comes time to buy again.
