I have made sure no palm oil is in any product I am using. This means reading labels carefully. I t does mean sometimes changing brands.

    Food
An average American throws out about 240 lbs of food per year. The average family of four spends $1,500 a year on food that they throw out. Where would you rather use this money?

I do compost all wasted food, though better not to waste it. Better planning and also stewing fruit getting old would help. I am sure I could put that a,punt if money to use in better ways.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Food
Fun fact: Your brain and stomach register feelings of fullness after about 20 minutes of eating. While dishing food out, we tend to load our plates with more than we need. Using smaller plates helps to mitigate this. Aside from the environmental benefits, what other benefits might come out of this?

Eat more slowly, be mindful of what I am eating, and savour the taste. Chew more.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Food
What do you think contributes to people in North America eating more meat than other countries, and what does this say about North American values and ways of living? How do we start shifting a meat-focused food culture?

Meat is cheap and readily available in many take out meals and fast food. Education about the benefits of plant based diets, and about factory farming might be useful. Western people live like resources are infinite, and like we are the only ones inhabiting the planet. Everyone needs to watch Food Inc.
