REFLECTION QUESTIONFoodFun fact: Your brain and stomach register feelings of fullness after about 20 minutes of eating. While dishing food out, we tend to load our plates with more than we need. Using smaller plates helps to mitigate this. Aside from the environmental benefits, what other benefits might come out of this?
Sherrill Rinehart 4/08/2018 3:37 PMI’ve been focusing for the last 3 weeks on taking smaller portions on my plate. Decreasing my consumption not only benefits the environment but is so good for my health! -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFoodHad you heard of the term silvopasture" before now? After learning more about it, what do you think is the biggest advantage of silvopasture?
Sherrill Rinehart 4/08/2018 3:27 PMI have been learning about silvopasture. I think one of the biggest advantages of it is a farmer can use a piece of land for multiple purposes. Instead of just using a plot of land to graze animals, nut and fruit and timber trees can be grown there as well. Animals can help fertilize the grasses and the trees. The trees provide shade and sometimes some food for the animals. There is more plant material for carbon storage using silvopasture techniques of land and farm management.
