REFLECTION QUESTIONLand UseHow difficult or easy was it to change your diet?
Mariah Rivera 4/25/2018 7:16 AMTo me it was very difficult to change up my diet, because i eat a lot of meat, and dairy. I sometimes drink coffee but it's not everyday because it makes me shaky. But, it was very hard because i felt like i was on sort of a diet because i couldn't eat the usual things that i would eat on a daily basis. But i feel like it was good for me and after it was over and i accomplished it,I felt happy because i not only helped a little bit on earth, but helped myself and my diet. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONTransportHow can you advocate for transportation systems which minimize environmental impact while also meeting human needs?
Mariah Rivera 4/25/2018 6:52 AMWays i can advocate for transportation systems can be to maybe help people out if they need help getting on or off the bus, picking up disposal around a bus stop so that it doesn't look trashed, in that way it can be not only good for our environment but for the people that ride a city bus or even a school bus. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFoodWhat do you think contributes to people in North America eating more meat than other countries, and what does this say about North American values and ways of living? How do we start shifting a meat-focused food culture?
Mariah Rivera 4/25/2018 6:43 AMI think the thing that contributes to more people eating meat in North America is the fact that more animals are being more killed than in other countries to eat for food. It doesn't a show a good thing about North America because we should be trying to save animals instead of killing them. We can shift over and use substitutes for meat such as vegan foods and or vegetables and fruits and tofu so in that way we aren't only benefiting ourselves, but the animals as well. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONElectricity GenerationYour utility company is able to tell you your average energy usage. Ask them how your energy usage compares to others in your zipcode, and in your state. What steps can you take each day to reduce your electricity usage?
Mariah Rivera 4/25/2018 6:37 AMIt depends on where you live and the state because in different places energy is more pricier than in other places. I don't know how much my parents pay for electricity bills but i know that it is high. A way i can reduce electricity usage is by turning off lights when i leave rooms, and also by switching out my light bulbs for energy reduced ones that can save me a whole lot more money. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFoodAn average American throws out about 240 lbs of food per year. The average family of four spends $1,500 a year on food that they throw out. Where would you rather use this money?
Mariah Rivera 4/24/2018 8:43 AMI'd rather use this money on food that i actually want and that is useful and also food should't be thrown away, it should be gave to those who need it and who will actually use and eat it. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONLand UseClimate scientist Katharine Hayhoe states that "The reason we care about climate change is because it affects the people and places that we care about." What is happening (or will happen) in your area that will affect the people and places you care about?
Mariah Rivera 4/24/2018 6:39 AMThe causes of chemicals coming and polluting our air causes not only our air to be polluted, but also our environment. I think that also greenhouse gases and driving also affects it as well. Lots of human activities lead up to erosion and decrease in plantation and more other bad things on earth.
