REFLECTION QUESTIONFoodNow that you know the difference between use by, sell by, and best by dates, how will you view expiration dates differently?
Keaton Roberts 4/23/2018 10:20 AMI will start paying more attention to use by dates, to better monitor my waste. This will help me pace myself and also make sure that I will not buy too much food. This will help reduce my wasted food and money. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONLand UseHow is your diet currently impacting deforestation? What can you do to decrease your negative impact and increase your positive impact?
Keaton Roberts 4/23/2018 10:04 AMI love chocolate and eat M&Ms pretty often, as well as get some at most holidays. I tend to eat and buy chocolate that is from big name brands, who may not use sustainably grown chocolate. I can buy sustainably grown chocolate, as well as advocate for a ranger program to protect against illegal cocoa farms. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONElectricity GenerationGeothermal energy is reliable, abundant, and efficient. Project Drawdown states that public investment will play a crucial role in its expansion. What kind of investment seems most feasible for you?
Keaton Roberts 4/23/2018 9:51 AMI think that it would be most feasible for the government to invest funds into geothermal energy. However, I think there would be a greater impact if every household invested in geothermal energy. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONElectricity GenerationHad you ever heard of biomass techonology before this? What did you learn that surprised you? Share this with your friends!
Keaton Roberts 4/17/2018 9:24 AMI have heard of biomass technology, but never understood what it actually was. I am surprised that only 5% of primary energy use in the United States is from biomass, and think that there needs to be a much higher use of it. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFoodHad you heard of the term silvopasture" before now? After learning more about it, what do you think is the biggest advantage of silvopasture?
Keaton Roberts 4/13/2018 9:26 AMI have never heard of silvopasture until now. I think the biggest advantage is the financial benefits, because not only does it significantly help the farmer, but it incentivises them to switch to a better farming style. Therefore, in the long run, all farmers could be using silvopasture. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONMaterialsHow do you address your own feelings of concern, fear or despair about climate change?
Keaton Roberts 4/11/2018 10:02 AMI address my feelings of concern by spending lots of time in school learning about the problem at hand. In most of my science classes I learn, or have learned, about climate change. I can turn my fear into confidence by using my knowledge to help change the world and reduce climate change.
