  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Transport
How do your transportation choices affect your engagement in your community? Does your experience differ while walking, riding transit, biking or driving?

Driving and riding cars affects the engagement that people have in the community because there is less social interaction. While walking I feel relaxed. In a car, I feel like I should be doing something else to transport to school. Lastly, while biking I feel that I am keeping myself healthier and decreasing pollution for others around me.

    Food
What do you think contributes to people in North America eating more meat than other countries, and what does this say about North American values and ways of living? How do we start shifting a meat-focused food culture?

North Americans do not really have a limit to the amount of meat they they are able to consume. North American values and ways of living have worsened. We can start shifting our meat-focused food culture by not only doing these challenges forfun, but to look at it as more of a long-term lifestyle.

I agree that we are so fortunate here to have so many choices about the food we eat, but as a society we are also very wasteful. Starting a Meatless Mondays tradition at home and possibly at school would be a great change to make.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Food
Fun fact: Your brain and stomach register feelings of fullness after about 20 minutes of eating. While dishing food out, we tend to load our plates with more than we need. Using smaller plates helps to mitigate this. Aside from the environmental benefits, what other benefits might come out of this?

Aside from the environmental benefits that eating smaller portions can cast, smaller portions can help with weight and calorie intake.

Biking helps to decrease the pollution and is a fun form of exercise anyway.
