REFLECTION QUESTIONFoodAn average American throws out about 240 lbs of food per year. The average family of four spends $1,500 a year on food that they throw out. Where would you rather use this money?
Anne Russell 4/25/2018 8:20 AMIf I had an extra $1500 I would put it right in my college fund. This way, when I become a successful adult post-graduation, I will have a lot more money than $1500 to donate to various charitable organizations. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONElectricity GenerationWhat inspires you to act on sustainable energy and other energy issues?
Anne Russell 4/25/2018 8:19 AMI am inspired to promote sustainable energy because I really want to conserve our planet's beauty and resources. I also think that renewable energy sources, like solar and wind and geothermal, are much more interesting than fossil fuel extraction. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFoodProducing uneaten food squanders many resources—seeds, water, energy, land, fertilizer, hours of labor, financial capital. Which of these motivates you the most to change your behavior regarding food waste?
Anne Russell 4/24/2018 8:37 AMThe wasted water and energy used in the production of food is what made me want to start a compost bin at my house. So far, it's going well!
