  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Food
What do you think contributes to people in North America eating more meat than other countries, and what does this say about North American values and ways of living? How do we start shifting a meat-focused food culture?

Fast-food restaurants contributes to people in North America eating more meat than any other country in the world. This is saying that us americans live an unhealthy life. We could shift from a meat-focused food culture by eating something similar to meat but isn’t meat. For instance veggie burgers.

  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Food
In North America, up to 65% of food waste happens at the consumer level. Chef Steven Satterfield advocates for utilizing every part of a vegetable. How can you incorporate using an entire vegetable, including the skins, tops, and stalks during your next meal prep?

Turn it into something else that’s edible and save it for later.

  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Food
Producing uneaten food squanders many resources—seeds, water, energy, land, fertilizer, hours of labor, financial capital. Which of these motivates you the most to change your behavior regarding food waste?

How is your diet currently impacting deforestation? What can you do to decrease your negative impact and increase your positive impact?

My diet has no restrictions currently; this means that I eat all types of meat which means that I am contributing to deforestation. To decrease my negative impact is to reduce the types of meat I eat like red meat.
