REFLECTION QUESTIONWomen and GirlsHow are people responding to the statistics you're sharing on social media?
Margaret Stewart 4/25/2018 3:28 PMWe created an instagram @gender_equality_empowerment. To gain followers we promoted it on our personal accounts. So far we have done a few posts and some people have reacted with surprise about the percentages. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFoodNow that you know the difference between use by, sell by, and best by dates, how will you view expiration dates differently?
Margaret Stewart 4/25/2018 9:30 AMI will use expiration dates as a way to find the best time to eat the food. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFoodWhat do you think contributes to people in North America eating more meat than other countries, and what does this say about North American values and ways of living? How do we start shifting a meat-focused food culture?
Margaret Stewart 4/25/2018 9:25 AMI think people in North America are more prone to eat meat because there is much more of a farming culture with livestock. I think if enough people are motivated to cut meat this focus can be shifted. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONMaterialsWhat concerns you the most about how we are affecting the planet? Consider both local and global actions.
-
REFLECTION QUESTIONLand UseHow is your diet currently impacting deforestation? What can you do to decrease your negative impact and increase your positive impact?
Margaret Stewart 4/25/2018 9:07 AMMeat, dairy and eggs themselves are not contributing to deforestation, instead the soy used to feed the animals which produce these products is forcing more forests to become plantations to grow soy. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFoodFun fact: Your brain and stomach register feelings of fullness after about 20 minutes of eating. While dishing food out, we tend to load our plates with more than we need. Using smaller plates helps to mitigate this. Aside from the environmental benefits, what other benefits might come out of this?
Margaret Stewart 4/25/2018 9:02 AMI use small portions in my lunch, so I am able to eat all of my meal without waste. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONWomen and GirlsWhat did you learn about the need for family planning? Share some of the learning with your friends!
Margaret Stewart 4/25/2018 7:43 AMI learned that family planning helps families to prepare themselves for children. It also allows women to have access to contraceptives and other items.
