REFLECTION QUESTIONMaterialsWhat concerns you the most about how we are affecting the planet? Consider both local and global actions.
peyton terry 4/25/2018 10:26 AMThe amount of pollution that I see around my city and any other city is terrible. I can barely walk around without seeing trash somewhere despite the numerous fines that are threatened and laws that have been passed. Clearly, people aren’t going to stop littering so the only way to help the planet it to make littering not harmful. -
peyton terry 4/25/2018 10:22 AMReally inspiring to see all my peers working so hard for the Ecochallenge!!!! -
REFLECTION QUESTIONWomen and GirlsWhat are the most pressing womens' and girls' issues in your community?
peyton terry 4/25/2018 10:20 AMThe most pressing women's' and girls' issues in my community is definitely sexual harassment. Cat-calling downtown and unwanted and unwarranted advances from men can really bring a woman down. We need to stand up for these women and fix this issue in our community. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONTransportHow can you ensure that your virtual meetings honor your values and your company's culture?
peyton terry 4/25/2018 10:19 AMI can ensure this by making the virtual meetings as personal as they can be. I can be sure to explain my need for virtual meetings and I will try my hardest to ensure that I still get word in during the conversations -
REFLECTION QUESTIONLand UseAs you learn more about the scope and seriousness of the environmental challenges we face, what impact does that have on your thinking and actions? What are the parts that feel overwhelming? What parts help you feel hopeful?
peyton terry 4/25/2018 10:17 AMAll of the environmental challenges that we are facing increasingly makes me more inspired to act. I find myself thinking every day about what I can do for the environment and how I can make a difference. Especially with this challenge, it's a lot easier to get motivation to do things for the environment when all the people around you are trying too. It really makes me feel like we have a change at making a difference. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONLand UseAre bamboo alternatives readily available in your community? If not, what are other sustainable alternatives?
peyton terry 4/25/2018 10:14 AMBamboo is kind of available in my community. There are bamboo things at different furniture stores but it's not large scale. In addition, it's not really promoted a lot, either. However, I can sort my way through it and try to buy bamboo as much as I can. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFoodDependable fresh food, supporting local farmers and building resilient communities are just a few benefits of local food systems. Which of these advantages inspire you the most?
peyton terry 4/25/2018 10:13 AMSupporting local farmers is the most inspiring to me because I think that it's really cool that we can have a really positive impact on the environment just by supporting others to help out -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFoodClean air, clean water and healthy food are three reasons to care about regenerative agriculture. In what ways can you support your closest regenerative agriculture farm?
peyton terry 4/25/2018 10:12 AMI can do this by either donating to regenerative agriculture or doing research about who locally has regenerative agriculture and I can buy my products from them. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONElectricity GenerationWhat did you learn about wave and tidal energy? Were you surprised by the information you found?
peyton terry 4/25/2018 10:10 AMI learned that people utilize tidal every by using buoys and floatation devices that use tidal surges and falls to get energy. I was surprised by this because I'd never really thought about the tide being used as an energy source like that. But it makes sense! -
REFLECTION QUESTIONBuildings and CitiesWhat are your next steps for saving energy?
peyton terry 4/25/2018 10:09 AMMy next steps will be to update my appliances including heating and cooling to be more energy efficient since I live in an older model home.
