  • REFLECTION QUESTION

What concerns you the most about how we are affecting the planet? Consider both local and global actions.

What concerns me the most is the amount of pollutants we emit to the air. This is on a local and global scale as no one understands the impact of daily household activities that have an impact on our planet. Many people don't even understand bio plastic disposal methods as they don't understand the impact of plastic and don't take the time to learn.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Land Use
As you learn more about the scope and seriousness of the environmental challenges we face, what impact does that have on your thinking and actions? What are the parts that feel overwhelming? What parts help you feel hopeful?

    Isabelle Theodossiou's avatar
    Isabelle Theodossiou 4/24/2018 10:22 AM
This has a major impact on my thinking and actions on our environmental impact. The parts that are overwhelming to me is that we are constantly tearing down the homes of smaller mammals with no consideration on how this will effect their population. The parts that make me hopeful is the newer restrictions that have been added due to the higher concern for animal life.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Transport
Take a moment to think of places you frequent often (work, grocery store, natural areas). Could you choose one or two days a week to schedule driving with a friend, neighbor or co-worker to these places?

    Isabelle Theodossiou's avatar
    Isabelle Theodossiou 4/24/2018 9:45 AM
Yes everyday I go place tennis and I should text my friend to drive together instead of meeting there!
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Land Use
How is your diet currently impacting deforestation? What can you do to decrease your negative impact and increase your positive impact?

    Isabelle Theodossiou's avatar
    Isabelle Theodossiou 4/24/2018 9:42 AM
My diet is very negatively impactful toward deforestation. Already I am trying to cut out my meat intake everyday. That way slowly the need for cows will lessen and they will not have to cut down trees in order to provide land space for them to graze.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Electricity Generation
Geothermal energy is reliable, abundant, and efficient. Project Drawdown states that public investment will play a crucial role in its expansion. What kind of investment seems most feasible for you?

Where I live I think that solar would be the most successful.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION

I had never heard of biomass technology before. I learned that biomass can heat a whole school facility which is very interesting!
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Food
Had you heard of the term silvopasture" before now? After learning more about it, what do you think is the biggest advantage of silvopasture?

    Isabelle Theodossiou's avatar
    Isabelle Theodossiou 4/16/2018 9:24 AM
I have never heard of silvopasture before now. However, now that I´m more informed I believe the biggest advantage of silvopasture is that it improves the health of the land they same time of being a financial benefit for farmers. Money is a major issue for many people so this is a win-win situation for everybody.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION

How do you address your own feelings of concern, fear or despair about climate change?

    Isabelle Theodossiou's avatar
    Isabelle Theodossiou 4/12/2018 9:17 AM
I address my feeling of concern about climate change by talking about how we can reduce our impact on it!
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Materials
How could you incorporate other "R's" -- reduce, reuse, refuse, repair, repurpose, etc. -- into your lifestyle?

    Isabelle Theodossiou's avatar
    Isabelle Theodossiou 4/10/2018 9:19 AM
Well for one I need to add in a recycle bin in my house. While I was at the beach I saw that my family did not have a recycle bin we only had a trashcan. So in order to force my family to recycle I added old cardboard boxes and bags that we could put cans and bottles once we were finished with them!
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Food
What do you think contributes to people in North America eating more meat than other countries, and what does this say about North American values and ways of living? How do we start shifting a meat-focused food culture?

    Isabelle Theodossiou's avatar
    Isabelle Theodossiou 4/10/2018 9:16 AM
I feel as though the fact meat is much more accessible to people in North America we eat a lot more without considering the impact. Since meat is in such easy reach in our grocery stores especially we due to eat more. I don't think this negatively portrays North American values and ways of living however it shows that many people do not realize the impacts of things that are in easy reach to them. We can start shifting a meat-focused food culture by setting gradual goals just like this website is doing.
