Mike Refsland 4/12/2018 7:19 PMWe reuse ziplocs too! We test them by putting a little water/air in it and squeezing to see if they hold. When they're spent, they go in with the bread bags/grocery bags for plastic bag recycling (thanks Cub)!

REFLECTION QUESTIONMaterialsWhat single-use items (e.g. straws, coffee cups, vegetable bags, plastic bags) do you regularly use? What could be substituted instead?
Jean Turck 4/11/2018 6:37 AMI've followed in my Mom's footsteps...we buy heavy duty ziplocs and use them until their zipper doesn't close anymore. They're used over and over for things that need a bag and not a hard-sided container. -
Jean Turck 4/09/2018 6:50 AMSorry team, slacked of on the eco-challenge this weekend. Went to Woodbury and drove everywhere. At least we were in our Prius. -

REFLECTION QUESTIONFoodAn average American throws out about 240 lbs of food per year. The average family of four spends $1,500 a year on food that they throw out. Where would you rather use this money?
Jean Turck 4/06/2018 10:50 AMI would rather put money saved by not throwing food away toward - boring alert - savings. -
