  • REFLECTION QUESTION
Electricity Generation Watch a Video about Methane Digesters
What does your vision of a sustainable community look like? What would need to be changed in order for such vision to become reality?

    Nicole Voss's avatar
    Nicole Voss 4/24/2018 6:23 AM
My community would need to holistically rethink our waste - including compost/food waste, garbage and recycling to a reliable processor.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
Buildings and Cities Replace Manual Thermostats
How do you anticipate replacing your thermostats for smart ones will positively impact your life?

    Nicole Voss's avatar
    Nicole Voss 4/20/2018 12:10 PM
I will be able to remotely control the termostat in my house!
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Materials Recycle Everything I Can
How could you incorporate other "R's" -- reduce, reuse, refuse, repair, repurpose, etc. -- into your lifestyle?

    Nicole Voss's avatar
    Nicole Voss 4/19/2018 11:23 AM
I try to seek out reusable products wherever possible, particularly around food (like reusable sandwich bags, or food wrap).
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Food Learn More about Silvopasture
Had you heard of the term silvopasture" before now? After learning more about it, what do you think is the biggest advantage of silvopasture?

    Nicole Voss's avatar
    Nicole Voss 4/19/2018 11:20 AM
I had not heard the term, but I had been familiarized with the concept in Dan Barber's Third Plate.  The effect on limiting the amount of nitrogen in the system is the greatest benefit.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Food Reduce Animal Products
What do you think contributes to people in North America eating more meat than other countries, and what does this say about North American values and ways of living? How do we start shifting a meat-focused food culture?

    Nicole Voss's avatar
    Nicole Voss 4/10/2018 12:52 PM
North Americans feel entitled to meat.  Meat focussed, paleo diets are also super trendy right now - cutting back on our fear of carbs would help.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Food Smaller Portions
Fun fact: Your brain and stomach register feelings of fullness after about 20 minutes of eating. While dishing food out, we tend to load our plates with more than we need. Using smaller plates helps to mitigate this. Aside from the environmental benefits, what other benefits might come out of this?

    Nicole Voss's avatar
    Nicole Voss 4/06/2018 10:36 AM
Using smaller plates would help limit portion sizes to a realistic size so I don't overeat and then feel gross.
