Scot Wiesner 4/25/2018 7:57 AMSomething really easy to do, if you take 10 minutes to make a simple compost bin. -
Scot Wiesner 4/24/2018 6:27 AMFood safety as a very big issue, but so is food waste. Understanding what codes are on packaging and what they mean is very important. Just because a code on a package is past due, doesn't mean it isn't ok to eat.
At the same time, buying or making too much food at once and letting it spoil is not responsible as a consumer. It's not just a waste of food that took a lot of energy to produce, but also a waste of money. -
Scot Wiesner 4/24/2018 5:52 AMI've always known that there are many ways to generate electricity. Some are much better suited to country living for the less expensive options. However, there are a couple available within city. I just happened to see a post on FB last night about a lighting unit that can be used in remote areas (undeveloped countries or camping) that will literally use the weight of a rock to turn on a light. Unfortunately I can't find the link right now. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONLand Use Choose Better Wood ProductsBeyond carbon sequestration, what other benefits do forests offer you personally?
Scot Wiesner 4/16/2018 9:13 AMForests offer peace of mind in so many ways. Not just knowing that they are doing their part to clean up the air in which we pollute, but also just spending time in one. It's a very relaxing experience listening to the birds and other sounds of animals and wind blowing through the trees. It's truly peaceful.

Scot Wiesner 4/10/2018 5:36 AMI'm working on getting energy efficient furnaces and water heaters (energy star) into my place. On Wednesday, a new energy efficient washer and dryer (Energy Star) will hopefully be put in. -
Scot Wiesner 3/26/2018 11:39 AMPurchasing a new (Old) house is going to give me a lot of opportunities to update with much more efficient windows and utilities such as furnaces and water heaters. It'll hurt the pocketbook but will be worth it in the end.
