Michael's actions
Transport
Try Carpooling
#75 Ridesharing
I will commute by carpool 15 mile(s) per day and avoid sending up to 12.09 lbs of CO2 into Earth's atmosphere.
Food
Donate
#21 Clean Cookstoves
I will donate to Cool Effect's cookstove projects or another nonprofit that installs clean cookstoves in low-income countries.
Transport
Use Muscle Power
#49 Cars
I will cut my car trip mileage by only taking necessary trips, and I will only use muscle-powered transportation for all other trips.
Food
Support Local Food Systems
#4 Plant-Rich Diet
I will source 3 meal(s) from local producers each day. This could include signing up for a local CSA, buying from a farmer's market, visiting a food co-op, foraging with a local group, or growing my own ingredients.
Participant Feed
Reflection, encouragement, and relationship building are all important aspects of getting a new habit to stick.
Share thoughts, encourage others, and reinforce positive new habits on the Feed.
To get started, share “your why.” Why did you join the challenge and choose the actions you did?

REFLECTION QUESTIONTransportTake a moment to think of places you frequent often (work, grocery store, natural areas). Could you choose one or two days a week to schedule driving with a friend, neighbor or co-worker to these places?
-
REFLECTION QUESTIONTransportHow do your transportation choices affect your engagement in your community? Does your experience differ while walking, riding transit, biking or driving?
Michael Wilkerson 4/25/2018 7:14 AMMy experience definitely differs when it comes to biking, walking, or riding transit because I get to interact with the people in my community and get to know them! -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFoodDependable fresh food, supporting local farmers and building resilient communities are just a few benefits of local food systems. Which of these advantages inspire you the most?
Michael Wilkerson 4/25/2018 7:13 AMI like to support the local and fresh food here in Asheville because our small town runs on the profit of these venders. I believe that the local food here is the best, more organic and fresh food. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFoodHow are environmental issues like black carbon and other emissions from cooking fires or rudimentary cookstoves also human health and social justice issues?
Michael Wilkerson 4/24/2018 8:49 AMThe environmental breakdown in the world today has all come from the emissions from fire/coal using machines. These emissions have been scientifically proven to cause health issues, not only to humans, but also to the earth! It is something that has to be changed in the very near future if we want this world to keep its amazing beauty
