  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Food composting
Producing uneaten food squanders many resources—seeds, water, energy, land, fertilizer, hours of labor, financial capital. Which of these motivates you the most to change your behavior regarding food waste?

I am fortunate to have been raised in a frugal family - my spouse as well.  We avoid food waste as a matter of habit due to our upbringing, so leftovers for lunch the next day are common fare.  When I see food waste, I see wasted hours of manpower, and money that could have been used more efficiently.  Especially when I work my garden and grow my own vegetables, I try my hardest to immediately use, share, or freeze the items for future use.

This is going to be a bit  more challenging than I originally thought - finding forest-friendly foods - now that I know my coffee and dark chocolate are on the list of "unfriendly" foods...more research is needed on my part and I'm definitely now aware of why some coffees have the green frog logo!
