#3 Reduced Food Waste

I will keep a daily log of food I throw away during the EcoChallenge, either because it went bad before I ate it, I put too much on my plate, or it was scraps from food preparation.

Support Local Food Systems

Ate a bagel with vegan cream cheese for breakfast and packed a vegan grilled cheese for lunch. (It almost tastes the same.)

I forgot all about it. But I've also been eating vegan meals so kinda decently.

Yay vegan meals!  Though I'm not vegan I'm definitely interested in learning more about vegan meal ideas.  Also you can still go back and mark the goals you completed over the past week, on your Dashboard 🙂

Building communities by supporting the local economy and bringing people together by eating food grown by people they can see and appreciate the work of.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
Food Keep Track of Wasted Food
An average American throws out about 240 lbs of food per year. The average family of four spends $1,500 a year on food that they throw out. Where would you rather use this money?

    Food Reduce Animal Products
What do you think contributes to people in North America eating more meat than other countries, and what does this say about North American values and ways of living? How do we start shifting a meat-focused food culture?

It's not a meal without meat in America. It's following the norm despite knowing the conditions in factory farms or the impact animal products have on the environment and human health. It's followed because it is the norm- we don't know another way and are taught that being vegan or vegetarian is 'other', undesirable.  It starts with education and making the public understand how it can make their lives better, and that meals are still meals without meat.
