How do your transportation choices affect your engagement in your community? Does your experience differ while walking, riding transit, biking or driving?

Walking my neighborhood I find that I engage with my neighbors in conversation more often while riding a bike the interaction is usually reduced to a friendly wave.

How has your access to various kinds of transporation throughout your life influenced your current attitudes about transportation and your transportation behavior?

I commute to the office via public transit.  It takes a little longer but I've found it is far less stressful than driving in traffic plus the added bonus of keeping a car off the road.  Having the level of public transit available is a big part of why we moved here.  I find driving to be rather stressful in the city and now prefer to take public transit, walk or bike as my modes of transportation.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Women and Girls
Globally, women typically invest a higher proportion of their earnings in their families and communities than men. How can you better support communities by supporting women?

They also do fantastic CSA type boxes - except you can choose what you want in your box on a box by box fee basis rather than a CSA membership fee.  If you live in the area around Canby like I do she'll even deliver the box to your doorstep!  https://www.facebook.com/redchairfarm/  you can direct message her from their facebook page for direct inquiries!  (Also she has both duck and chicken eggs available!)

    Electricity Generation
Micro turbines can be placed on large structures to take advantage of stronger, steadier breezes. The Eiffel Tower now sports vertical axis turbines that produce electricity for use on site. Where could micro turbines potentially be installed in your city?

Wells Fargo Building in downtown PDX would be a perfect structure for micro turbines.
