April 4 at 12:05 PMI knew that most food can still be eaten past the best by date as I have done it before. In my opinion you can always tell when a product is off. Either by the way it looks, smells (or if you dare!) tastes. However I didn't know what a sell by date was exactly and that it was mainly for store management and doesn't indicate a safety date...

April 4 at 12:00 PMI had to throw out half a squash because I forgot about it in the fridge and it was beyond saving. Also some left over salad and half an onion that I had not finished before I went away for Easter. I will be giving it away on Olio or to friends/neighbours next time.
