I buy from local farms at the farmers market and food co-op where I know the food has been raised organically and with methods that are kind to the earth. Most of our food comes from these sources. I also support a local fish co-op that fishes sustainably in consultation with Maine's marine scientists.

This was very eye-opening to learn that, other than infant formula, the dates all mean basically the same...it's about quality not food safety. I suspect few people know this and this would be a great campaign to undertake to cut down on food waste. I have some folks in mind to share this information with.

Joining the 2018 EcoChallenge has been a wonderful experience for Rising Tide Co-op! We are excited to continue to participate in the movement that Paul Hawken's book Drawdown and the Northwest Earth Institute has inspired to help curb the impacts of global climate change💚

I made a delicious vegetable soup with broccoli stems, celery tops and stalks, unpeeled local organic carrots and potatoes and completed the soup with frozen diced tomatoes from last year's garden.

By not over loading your plate you make an importunity for another meal another night. Also it's good for anyone wanting to loose a few pounds.

A lot of foods scraps make a wonderful veggie broth. Also my chickens love a variety of vegetable peelings and cores of fruits and vegetables.

I love composting not only food scraps but litter from my chicken coop and debris from raking the yard.

Putting money towards more energy solutions in our home and into my Maine climate solutions film.

I don't eat much dairy, meat or eggs but when I do I buy only local and organic.  I have been doing this for at least the past 10 years.
