  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Food Zero-waste Cooking
In North America, up to 65% of food waste happens at the consumer level. Chef Steven Satterfield advocates for utilizing every part of a vegetable. How can you incorporate using an entire vegetable, including the skins, tops, and stalks during your next meal prep?

buy doing knowing our food you can work with it in order to uses every aspect of it in order to minimize the wast that we usually have. Like of an orange usually you just eat the inside but if you save the outside than you can dip them in chocolate to eat later.

Environmental quality and sense of community can come as one thing as people work together and connect based on things that all affect their lives and they care about creating a stronger community as they work together to preserve their local environment.

How difficult or easy was it to change your diet?

I wasn't that easy because these products like Plame oil are in our everyday food products, mainly the harder part is it not always visible just by looking at the produces but you much look at the ingredients of your daily food and cut out things that once always had and finding substitutes to them.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Food Reduce Animal Products
What do you think contributes to people in North America eating more meat than other countries, and what does this say about North American values and ways of living? How do we start shifting a meat-focused food culture?

    Samantha Bauer's avatar

We eat more meat because we mass produce it at a low price but as a result, we see a higher cost for our environment. This shows how North American values are not so much on the quality of their own health and food but more so on fueling their body with foods that are cheap. We don't pay the price for our food but rather the animals and our environment see the consequences and much pay this price for our actions. We can shift our meat culture by working on providing fruits and vegetables at a more affordable price making it more convenient to choice non-meat products.
