Electricity Generation
Choose Renewable Energy or Purchase Renewable Energy Credits
#2 Wind Turbines (Onshore), #8 Solar Farms
I will sign up for my utility company's clean/renewable energy option. If my utility does not offer one, I will purchase Renewable Energy Credits to match my usage.

Reduce Animal Products
#4 Plant-Rich Diet
I will enjoy 1 meatless or vegan meal(s) each day of the challenge.

Learn More About Geothermal Energy

I will spend at least 60 minutes learning more about the energy generation potential of geothermal energy and consider investing in this technology.

Support Local Food Systems
#4 Plant-Rich Diet
I will source 2 meal(s) from local producers each day. This could include signing up for a local CSA, buying from a farmer's market, visiting a food co-op, foraging with a local group, or growing my own ingredients.
Food
Smaller Portions
#3 Reduced Food Waste
I will use smaller plates and/or serve smaller portions when dishing out food.
Food
Keep Track of Wasted Food
#3 Reduced Food Waste
I will keep a daily log of food I throw away during the EcoChallenge, either because it went bad before I ate it, I put too much on my plate, or it was scraps from food preparation.
Electricity Generation
Support Companies Leading in Green Energy
#8 Solar Farms
I will use my spending power to reward companies leading in purchasing green energy and incentivize others to invest more in green energy.
Food
Learn the Truth About Expiration Dates
#3 Reduced Food Waste
I will spend at least 60 minutes learning how to differentiate between sell by, use by, and best by dates.

Julie Breeding 4/24/2018 4:46 AMUsing the food log has surprised me and reinforced my need to do better about decreasing waste. -
Julie Breeding 4/18/2018 10:23 AMIt would be easier for me to do the locally sourced food item in a growing and farm market season. -
Julie Breeding 4/12/2018 6:20 AMI started a veggie garden last year at a friend’s house because I now have too much shade. I still garden at my house in pots I can move to catch sun. Peas and lettuce can be in now. Lettuce and other greens are pretty with some annuals in May. Just use natural fertilizers like fish oil. I also plant tomatoes, peppers among my annuals in my front bed. -
Julie Breeding 3/14/2018 5:10 AMI’m excited about joining others in this important work and in seeing the effect we might have collectively. -
